The Theory of Dating Up……or Down
I would like to think that everyone has the potential to meet their perfect match, an equal, and as a society we love to love couples that are of equal power, fame, beauty, talent ala Jay-Z/Beyonce and Angelina and Brad. But, in most cases, I tend to see someone I believe is dating up……or unfortunately dating down. When I say this I don’t mean in the traditional sense of someone dating a social class above them. I mean someone not as attractive dating someone attractive or someone not as successful dating someone successful or someone dull dating someone charismatic.
Advice for “bad guys”…Get over yourself and get some help
So here is my problem. I am very attracted to what I call the “bad guys.” This is definition includes one or more of the following: very attractive and knows it, bad credit, a DUI or 2, married, doesn’t call back, flakes, calls when he is drunk at 2 am, bad relationship with family and so on. It is as if I am still in elementary school and I like the boy that is mean to me. Example… I’m elementary school I had a huge crush on a boy named Trevor. Trevor happened to have the single (on tape) of “I’m going to sex you up.” I decided to steal it from him. He totally caught me and punched me square in the stomach. Wow did this make the fireworks explode. I couldn’t get over that bastard for years… But the really question is WHY? Yes I stole the tape from him, but he PUNCHED me, which made me like him more!!!
7 things that will KILL THE MOOD.
When I’m not reading Glamour.com, I read the news, and I am a big fan of MSN.COM. I came across an article this morning called, “The Seven Biggest Romance Spoilers,” let’s examine:
First Date 101: 5 Points to Steer Clear of in Conversation
From a 20-something guy who’s been on a fair share of first dates in Los Angeles, I’ve noted a handful of big conversational turn offs. To be fair, men and women have committed each one of these mistakes, but you rarely get to hear the guy’s stance, so here they are:
A Year Later: Love, Roomating, and Learning (oh so much about your BF)
Sometimes it’s like living with your ultimate best friend, a child, a stranger, but besides all the awkward situations (running out of TP, clogging certain appliances, no space for fight aftermath); it was the most eye-opening, sometimes challenging, best experience of my life.
What are your thoughts on: Day Drinking with your BF?
Now that the weather is getting warmer on the East Coast, several date opportunities have come into play and one of my newly found favorites is day drinking. Last Sunday (Mother’s Day, sorry Mom), my BF and ventured a block and a half to a recently found organic burger shack (BARE BURGER) which we just love. The atmosphere induces a low-key date, with the intimacy of deep booths, a good soundtrack, and a wait staff that realize that they’re not going to get a bigger tip by showing a ton of face time. Besides the ambiance, it’s delicious, cheap(ish), and they have a nice selection of inexpensive (from $3 for a pint) of locally brewed beer.
Makin’ Moves
In my experience, I’ve learned that many women wait for men to make the first move. And if you don’t understand that concept, as a man, you might come across some trouble in the dating world.
It’s Not Like The Movies
I remember when I was a kid I was fascinated by the “true love” that existed between two people, where sparks flew, and your world stopped spinning, as cited by every single chick flick ever made. As I grew up and started to date, I started to doubt that this kind of love ever truly existed in the real world (it does by the way). All the unbelievably, make-you-say-“aww”-out-loud scenarios that captivate our naïve hearts on screen may not happen as frequently (in your relationship) outside of the movie theater, but that doesn’t mean your relationship isn’t as good- or even better- that what appears on the big screen.
Serial Dating
What if you could date 4 beautiful people at the same time, would you? I know men and women who would answer that question in two completely different ways.
