The ladies of TDR get asked for dating advice a lot, and we want to share a little list we call the "Top 5 Ways to Ruin a First Date." These time-tested techniques are sure to make the fellas run. Unless you're trying to pull an Andie Anderson a la "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," adhere to these 5 rules:

1. Don't ask for a comment card. Never ask a guy "So how do you think is going? Is it the best first date you have been on?" Not only does that take out romance, it puts a guy on the spot.

2. Avoid prospective family talk. Aside from politics and religion, you should steer clear of asking him how many kids he wants or where he wants to get married. There is absolutely no reason for you to know this information on date one. "But, TDR, I don't want to waste my time if he doesn't want to settle down?" News flash - you're not going to marry or cohabitate with every guy you go on a first date with. Save the family questions until (at least) date four.

3. Don't drink and date. First dates are nerve-wracking; don't calm yours with a bottle of jack. No guy wants to or can be serious with a lush. If you're nervous, try meditating instead of medicating.

4. Do Be a Cheap(er) Date. That Seafood Tower and Caviar-encrusted filet sure may look good on a first date, but we caution you against going buck wild with your order. The guy may think you're just using him for a free meal! With that said, you don't need to stick to the kid's or appetizer menu; just keep your food order moderate.

5. Don't text and tell. Neither your Twitter followers nor your Facebook friends need to know the play by play on your date. It's annoying, rude and unnecessary. Put down your phone and don't pick it up until you are home.
